In the past few weeks, we have been stuck at home because of Covid lockdown measures. This means that we have not been able to practice or play instruments together at all. In addition to this, the restrictions on public gatherings make it very unlikely that any sort of performance will take place. This spells bad news for our project as it makes our live performance completely impossible.

Due to this we had an online meeting to discuss some alternatives.

Our first idea was to still put on the performance but livestream it rather than have an audience. At first this seemed viable however it would mean that we would have to be back in college in order to have a space to perform it. In addition to this, for the next few weeks or months, we are stuck at home which makes it almost impossible to practice a live performance. This is because the latency in video calls using services like Skype, Zoom or Teams is far too high to be able to play in time with each other.

Due to this we found that the only option would be to drastically change our plans from a live performance, to a recorded music video that will premiere live. This means that we can more easily work remotely by recording our parts separately and then combining them in a DAW and there is no chance that Covid will stop our premier from going ahead.

Even though this is a solution, working remotely will certainly be more difficult and having to change our envisioned final product is hard but we will power on!
